Apple prices the iPhone 18 Pro differently in every country, and Nigeria — which is not an Apple retail market at all — sits at the expensive end. If you are deciding whether to buy locally, ask a relative abroad, or order and ship, start with the actual numbers.

Price note: Apple's foreign prices below are official as announced on 9 September 2026. The naira figures are estimates from Nigerian sellers and from converting at an indicative ₦1,350 to the dollar on 10 September 2026. Exchange rates and customs charges change constantly.

Official launch prices (256GB base model)

Market iPhone 18 Pro iPhone 18 Pro Max Roughly in naira*
USA $1,199 $1,299 about ₦1.62m / ₦1.75m
UK £1,199 £1,299 about ₦2.15m / ₦2.33m
Germany €1,449 €1,599 about ₦2.24m / ₦2.47m
India ₹164,900 ₹179,900 about ₦2.52m / ₦2.75m
China CNY 9,999 CNY 10,999 about ₦1.89m / ₦2.08m
Japan JPY 219,800 JPY 239,800 about ₦1.98m / ₦2.16m
Nigeria (retailer quotes) about ₦2,500,000 about ₦2,900,000 —

*Naira conversions are indicative only, calculated on 10 September 2026 and rounded. They ignore local sales tax, shipping and customs.

Two things jump out. First, the US sticker price is the lowest because it excludes sales tax; UK and German prices include VAT of 20% and 19% respectively. Second, Nigerian retail quotes land close to the UK and German prices once you convert — which tells you importers are not inventing their margins out of thin air.

Why Nigerians pay more

Naira, dollar and pound notes fanned out beside a smartphone

The gap between $1,199 and ₦2.5 million is made up of:

  • Exchange rate risk. An importer buying dollars today has to price in the rate moving before the container clears.
  • Freight and insurance. Air freight on high-value electronics is not cheap, and it must be insured.
  • Customs duty, levies and VAT at the point of entry.
  • Clearing agents and internal logistics from the port or airport to the shop.
  • Scarcity margin. Nigeria was not in Apple's first wave of 65 launch countries on 12 September 2026, so early units command a premium.
  • Working capital. Money tied up in stock for weeks is expensive at Nigerian interest rates.

That last point is why prices usually soften a month or two after launch: supply improves and importers stop pricing in panic.

Which route is actually cheapest?

1. Buy from a Nigerian retailer (about ₦2.5m). No hassle, no customs surprises, some form of local recourse if something goes wrong. Most expensive on paper, cheapest in stress.

2. Ask someone travelling to buy it. A relative in Texas paying $1,199 with no sales tax gets you the phone for roughly ₦1.62 million. Add nothing for shipping if they hand-carry it. This is genuinely the cheapest legitimate route — but check the SIM question below.

3. Order online and ship it in. You pay the foreign price, courier fees and Nigerian import charges. Our import cost breakdown walks through each line item. The total usually lands between routes 1 and 2.

4. Wait for UK-used units. Two to three months after launch, clean pre-owned Pros start appearing at a discount. See iPhone 18 Pro UK used price in Nigeria.

The trap in buying American

Apple sells eSIM-only iPhone 18 Pro models — with no physical SIM tray — in Bahrain, Canada, Guam, Japan, Kuwait, Mexico, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the US and the US Virgin Islands. Nigeria is not on that list.

A US-bought unit will therefore usually have no SIM tray. eSIM works with Nigerian carriers that support it, but it is not universal here, swapping to a spare line is fiddlier, and a damaged phone is harder to move to a temporary handset. UK units still ship with a tray. We explain the whole issue in Does the iPhone 18 Pro have a physical SIM card in Nigeria?

Warranty is the other consideration: Apple's warranty is honoured through Apple Authorised Service Providers, and a unit bought abroad may need to travel for service. Read how to check the warranty in Nigeria.
